Third-Party Evaluation Report on Judicial Credibility of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court was Issued and Vice President Mao Ronghua of Shanghai High People's Court Attended and Gave a Speech
On the afternoon of May 3rd, Tongji Law School/Intellectual Property Institute and Shanghai Intellectual Property Court jointly held the News Conference of Judicial Credibility Index of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court and Seminar of Evaluation and Construction of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court’s Judicial Credibility. The activity was attended by Mao Ronghua, Vice President of Shanghai High People's Court; Jiang Bo, Vice President of Tongji University; Lv Guoqiang, President of Intellectual Property Research Society of Shanghai Law Society; Li Shulan, Vice President of Intellectual Property Court; and experts, scholars and judges from Tongji University, Fudan University, Shanghai Law Society, Shanghai Bar Association, Shanghai High People’s Court and Shanghai Intellectual Property Court. At the meeting, Tongji Law School/Intellectual Property Institute formally issued to the society the Evaluation Report on Judicial Credibility of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court of 2015. According to the Report, the comprehensive index of evaluation on the judicial credibility of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court of 2015 was 89.05 (of 100), indicating a fine overall level. Vice President Li Shulan said that Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, as one of the first batch of intellectual property courts in the country, aimed to enhance the judicial credibility since its establishment and proposed a development orientation of professionalization, internationalization, authoritativeness and influence. Shanghai Intellectual Property Court would make improvements according to suggestions in the Report and make efforts to develop into the most ideal place to solve intellectual property rights disputes in the Asia Pacific region. Vice President Mao Honghua fully affirmed the evaluation on the credibility of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court and spoke highly of Tongji Law School/Intellectual Property Institute’s efforts in acting as the leading institute and integrating resources of the whole school to finish the evaluation. Vice President Mao Honghua pointed out that judicial credibility was a basic standard to measure the work of a court, and the third-party evaluation on judicial credibility was a comprehensive evaluation on the court’s work and conducive to the enhancement of judicial credibility centering on the general goal of “making great efforts to give people fairness and justice in every judiciary case”. The purpose of evaluation was to promote construction and the evaluation report should be fully used. The evaluation report was not only a comprehensive interpretation of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, but also an interpretation of intellectual property right trials of all Shanghai’s courts, and would facilitate the intellectual property right trials of courts in Shanghai. It was hoped that Shanghai Intellectual Property Court could strengthen the weak links in the report and the soundness and credibility of evaluation can be enhanced constantly. During discussion, participants had in-depth discussions and communications, offering advice and suggestions for the evaluation and construction of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court’s judicial credibility.
