Shanghai IP Court Exchanges with Shanghai Association for Science & Technology

In order to make the court’s investigation of technical facts more scientific and normalized, and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the trial of technical cases,a delegation of Shanghai Intellectual PropertyCourt (hereinafter referred to as SIPC), including Qian Guangwen, Director of No. 2 Intellectual Property Tribunal, Wu Denglou, Deputy Director of Technical Investigation Office, as well as some judges and judge assistants of No. 1 and No. 2 Intellectual Property Tribunals, entrusted by the court's leaders, visited Shanghai Association for Science & Technology for research and exchange on the afternoon of February 18. Li Hongming, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Association for Science & Technology, director of the Innovation Department of the association and head of Shanghai Science & Technology Consulting Service Center, attended the exchange. At the meeting, Tribunal Director Qian Guangwen introduced the traits, difficulties and issues of the trial of technical cases in SIPC, as well as the new changes and new requirements regarding the acceptance and trial of cases after the establishment of an IP court by the Supreme People's Court of China; Head of a related department of Shanghai Association for Science & Technology introduced the work done by the association when participating in technical consultation, evidence preservation, and entrusted evaluation. The two sides fully communicated on the difficulties and issues arising when technical experts participated in evidence preservation, entrusted technical consultation and technical evaluation. They also had an in-depth exchange of views on the establishment of institutionalized, normalized preservation and evaluation processes, the assistanceto be given on the selection of technical expertsto build a talent pool, and the establishment of a personnel training and exchange mechanism. Vice Chairman Li Hongming saidShanghai Association for Science & Technology, witha wealth of technical experts under its belt, was willing to give full play to its advantages and would spare no effort to provide quality service and guarantee for the trial of the courts. Tribunal Director Qian Guangwen expressed his gratitude to the association for its long-term support and assistance in the trial of technical cases, saying that the court would continue to deepen cooperation and exchange with the association, leverage each other's functional advantages, and jointly contribute to IP protection and Shanghai's campaign to become a hi-tech innovation center.
