On the afternoon of July 17, Liu Xiaoyun, President of Shanghai High People’s Court (SHPC) met with Kang Yun Sok, President of North Korean Central Court and his group. Lu Xiaolong, full-time Party affairs cadre of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People’s Court, Mao Ronghua, Vice President of SHPC, and heads of relevant departments of SHPC attended the meeting.

President Liu Xiaoyun extended a warm welcome to President Kang Yun Sok, and briefly introduced the overall situation of Shanghai and the work of Shanghai courts to deepen the reform of the judicial system, promote judicial publicity, strengthen judicial fairness and advance the construction of information technology. President Liu Xiaoyun said thatthe friendshipbetween China and DPRK shared a long history and a solid foundation. Since this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, it serves as a link between past and future, and carries forward the cause in the history of the development of relations between our two parties and two countries.The visit of President Kang Yun Sok to China will certainly deepen the friendly relations between the judicial authorities of China and DPRK. It is hoped that the two sides will take this exchange as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and ties, and continue to deepen the cooperation between the two sides to jointly create a standardized and orderly legal environment.

President Kang Yun Sok expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of SHPC. He said that Shanghai courts have made remarkable achievements in the judicial system reform and the informatization construction. He hoped to strengthen exchanges with Shanghai courts and continue to deepen the cooperation between the two sides in the judicial field so as to jointly create a better future.

On July 18, President Kang Yun Sokand his group visited Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, accompanied by Lu Xiaolong, full-time Party affairs cadre of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People’s Court, Sheng Yongqiang, Vice President of SHPC, and Chen Yajuan, President of Shanghai Intellectual Property Court.President Kang Yun Sok visited the science and technology tribunal and the litigation service centerof the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court to learn more about the functions of the science and technology tribunal, the remote trials, the case filing procedures and the case division procedures, the service measures for the convenience of the people with the assistance of information, etc., and watched the trial of a criminal case and an intellectual property case on the spot.
