On the afternoon of September 7, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court held a lecture on theChina International Import Expo. Wang Chen, Director of the Legal Department of China International Import Expo, was invited to give a special lecture on thesame subject. Led by Party Secretary and President Chen Yajuan, the police officers of the court attended the lecture. The moderator was Xi Xuefeng, member of the Party group and Director of the Political Department. Director Wang Chen introduced the preparations for the Import Expo from seven aspects: organization and leadership, work plans, recruitment progress, investment attraction, supply and demand, forum preparation and service and guarantee. He also introduced, based on the actual situation of the court, the legal needs of the participants of the Expo, the schemes of intellectual property protection, and the settlement of disputes. He then answeredquestions raised by the police officers. This lecture is a concrete measure taken by the court to implement the Opinions of Shanghai Higher People's Court on Serving and Guaranteeing the China International Import Expo and the court’s Opinions on Establishing a Special Judicial Team to Serve and Guarantee the China International Import Expo. It helps the police officers of the court to know the preparation progress of the Import Expo and related legal needsin a more comprehensively and timely manner, give to a better play the judicial function, provide more pertinent and effective services and guarantees to the Import Expo, so as to ensure that the Import Expo will be a complete success. Director Xi Xuefeng stressed that the Import Expo is the decision of the CPC Central Committee and a landmark project signifying China’s new roundof opening up. That theImport Expo is to be held in Shanghai showsthe Central Committee’s confidence in the city, and also poses challenges for it. It also set higher requirements for the judicial organs of Shanghai. The police officers of the whole court should study, comprehend and practice conscientiously, and make greater contributions to serving and guaranteeing the Import Expo with actions.
